Chorlton Water Park

Gravel pits converted to a country park and nature reserve around a central pond.

The central lake of Chorlton Water Park was formed from an flooded gravel pit that was dug here on what was previously farmland in the 1970s. The Mersey Valley Warden Service has been managing the park since 1978 and it is now recognised as a Local Nature Reserve, a Green Flag Park and a site of biological importance.
