Haigh Hall

Haigh Hall was built in the first half of the nineteenth Century to replace the old manor house that was the Lindsay family home.

The Haigh Hall estate was sold to Wigan corporation in 1947 and many public amusements were added to the site to create a public parkland. Today there are extensive gardens and children’s play facilities including a miniature train line that takes passengers around the park. During the two World Wars Haigh Hall was used as a hospital.

The old estate parkland of Haigh Hall is now part of the sprawling Haigh Country Park that has some great woodland strolls.
