Tigers Clough

Tigers Clough is supposedly named after an illegal drinking establishment that once occupied a spot near to the Knoll Bleach Works in the 19th Century, having two tigers on a sign outside. The exact location of The Tigers is not known but, there is a convincing location just downstream of the old bleach works where much stone rubble can be found. Tigers Clough is located within the ancient Knollshaw Estate and has been occupied by humans for hundreds if not thousands of years. There are some interesting stone structures and artifacts nearby that could be prehistoric in origin.
