Leverhulme Park

The largest park in Bolton with open areas, grassland, play area and sports facilities.

Donated to the people of Bolton by Leverhulme, the lower part of the parkland to the east was once occupied by a reservoir, of which some earthworks remain together with rusted sluice mechanisms by the river. The higher ground to the west was the site of Bradshaw Hall – later Darcy Lever Hall.

The River Tonge and the Bradshaw Brook have their confluence at Leverhulme Park before joining the Croal and flowing on to join the Irwell near Farnworth.
