Raveden Clough Waterfall

A small waterfall on the Raveden Brook in Raveden Clough.

The Raveden Clough waterfall goes over a small fault in the local sandstone as the river goes round a tight bend.

Difficult to reach unless the stream is dry and then it’s a bit pointless. The stream is shallow but the area near the waterfall has steep sides covered in years of mulch and leaf litter. Most of the waterfall is not visible at any one time as it goes round a corner and the bottom section has been choked with old metal fence parts and built-up debris for a few years.

If you don’t mind a bit of mild gorge walking it’s an easy enough climb over the rocks and around the corner to where the water emerges from under an old, fallen tree. Probably dangerous, not a soft-landing.
