Worden Folly Ruins

The folly on the Shaw Brook at Worden Park is constructed in the form of ruined arches with odd features including a stone “gargoyle” water spout, placed at a strange angle and a few smaller carvings.

Interestingly on the C1850 map a surrounding area of woodland is named “Ruins Wood”, although this could refer to the folly there is an urban legend that an old ecclesiastical may have once lain ruined in the woods. Although the stonework could have come from a nearby St. Andrews church in Leyland soon after the turn of the 19th Century.
