Ormskirk

Ormskirk is a historic market town in Lancashire known for its gingerbread. Ormskirk is located 6 miles south of Liverpool.

A motte-and-bailey castle formerly stood in Ormskirk, and it’s probable that the mound was erected soon after the Norman Conquest of 1066 to keep an eye on the River Ouse while also protecting access points to York. The town’s name is thought to come from orm or orme, which means serpent or dragon in Old Norse.

Its history goes way back to the 11th century and has been linked with many events and people over the years.
