White Scar Cave is a very large series of limestone caves and potholes beneath Ingleborough and is open to the public. There is ample parking at the ticketing office. The tour part of the cave is linear and restricted to a small portion of the total explored area.
One highlight of the cave is this waterfall that is part of the stream running beneath the metal walkway for the duration of the tour up to the final chamber.
There are Mud accretions on the floor of the final chamber of White Scar Cave tour, this area is designated as a site of special scientific interest and also is said to retain footprints of the original explorers of the chamber.
The final part of the tour, the Battlefield Chamber features straw stalagtites which are very fine, hollow calcium formations through which water drips from the ceiling.
