Leyburn is a village in North Yorkshire, England. The village is the main settlement in the civil parish of ‘Leyburn’, situated on a tributary of the River Ure. The town is located within the district of Richmondshire, and is one of the best places to visit in North Yorkshire.
One of the most popular tourist destinations in Leyburn is The Dales Countryside Museum which has exhibits on local life and culture, farming history and wildlife. This museum can be found just outside of Leyburn at Gate Burton Hall. Another place to visit while you’re in town is Spout House which gives excellent views across the valley.
Leyburn is also known for its limestone shawl. The name comes from the fact that this geological feature looks like a shawl draped over the hill.
Leyburn has some excellent walks for tourists to enjoy while they’re visiting including The River Walk, Wainwath Walk and Peak District Trail. These are all fully accessible trails with maps available online so you can plan your routes.
