Tropicana

Tropicana is a former ‘lido’ located between the beach and the promenade on Marine Parade, Weston super Mare.

Built to accomodate an open-air swimming pool and leisure complex or lido, Tropicana was in use until Summer 2000 and has been disused since.

Although an interesting and historic design – originally constructed between 1936 and 1937 with a two-storey, art deco style facade in Mendip Stone – the Tropicana is not considered worthy or listed status. According to English Heritage “the building is the most tangible feature surviving from the 1930s in Weston-super-Mare”.
